About the Artist
Li shu Ji is born in Da Lian Province, China, in 1943. He enrolled into the Shen Yang Academy of Art in 1960 and subsequently entered the Shen Yang University of Arts. After graduating in 1968, he was recruited by the Liau Ning Art Academy for painting rsearch and creation.
For the past decade, Li Shu Ji’s experience includes acting as a visiting professor for Nan Yang Art Academy in Singapore. In addition, he has taken upon the task of researching Indonesian art and culture. He has been very active in creating oil paintings with Indoneian themes and culture.
In 1994, Li Shu Ji and his family migrated to Singapore. In 2000, he was commissioned by the Singapore Government to create a huge painting commemorating the revolutionary movement by Mr Sun Zhong Shan. The title for this painting is “Chinese Immigrant is the Source of Revolution”. This oil painting measures 6.0 m x 3.0 m. This painting illustrated Sun Zhong Shan speaking to a group of poor and spreading revolutionary movement.
